Remember when Bristol Palin was doing all of that abstinence education work to help promote the Candie’s Foundation and their cause to stop teen sex forever as a logical plan to prevent teen pregnancy? For the record, abstinence education is an important part of a comprehensive sex ed program, and pro-choice voters are generally in favor of such programs as long as they are included along with safe sex education. Teens are humans and need to know what they are up against as much as anyone else—and as such, their choices should also be respected, as they are their own decisions.

Anyway, the Candie’s Foundation seems to really care more about getting Bristol Palin on board more than anything else, seeing as they paid her seven times as much money as they spent on the actual campaign to prevent teen pregnancy altogether. They paid her $262 K; not bad for a teen mom. As a working mother making a tiny fraction of Bristol’s fees, I have to say that this news isn’t very conducive to preventing teen pregnancy. On the contrary, if we’re supposed to look at Bristol as an example, it seems like a pretty good way to live comfortably and not worry about paying for your kid’s health care or braces or food every day.
